Waurika Lake Equine Trails are open

Southeast of Lawton, East of Walters OK and Temple OK

Take the road to Corum, OK. Off of Hwy 53, take Coco Road AKA N2740 South toward the lake. Right after Jackie Lane road is the equestrian parking area on the left side of the road.  The trails are very open and well kept. They are supposed to be 13 miles of trails, but we discovered they were 13 miles out and 13 miles back and we were getting hot.  Most of the trail is in the shade which is nice, only one crossing that would be tough if it had rained but it was dry when we went through.  We crossed some major roads, but there is very little traffic to worry about. But the cars that do go by don't slow down any. You just seem to pop out of the woods and are on the road. Just be prepared.

Trails go up behind some houses, but mostly pasture and woods.

Nice place to go.
